Director, Dental Post-Baccalaureate Program
San Francisco State University/UOP School of Dentistry
The SFSU/University of the Pacific Post-Baccalaureate Program is
designed to address both disparities in access to care and the
lack of minority representation in the dental professions. The
Program has two goals: to increase the number of students from
disadvantaged backgrounds gaining acceptance into a US dental
school within one year after completion of the program; and to
select students who desire to work in underserved areas of
California.
The program, which starts in June, requires a full-time
commitment from the student. The program includes the following
elements: DAT review, academic skills enhancement, academic
course work, clinical clerkships/community involvement, a
PowerPoint presentation to the faculty, application support,
interview skills support, selection of schools, and advocacy.
Dr. Biana Roykh was
the Co-Director and subsequently the Director of this program
until August of 2013. Today, the program continues its mission
under new leadership.
Upon graduating from dental
school, Dr. Roykh worked for four years serving a
socio-economically disadvantaged population of San Francisco.
Today, she continues to show
her commitment to diversity and outreach in her new role at
UCSF.
